Low Pressure Casting - Shanghai Sourcing


The low pressure casting is one of permanent mold process too. The mold is made from iron, steel,, reign sand or shell. The mold is installed on a sealed furnace containing molten metal. Its pouring system is special. The riser tube connects the bottom of the mold to the molten metal bath. The chamber containing the molten metal is pressured (typically 20-100kPa), and the metal is forced up into the mold. Once the casting has solidified, the pressure is released and the molten metal falls back into the bath, and the casting ejected in preparation for the next cycle. The pressure can be controlled and adjusted against the structure, weight and material of the casting.



The low pressure casting is a multi-phase injection system for exact regulation of the casting process. In the low pressure casting procedure, the liquid metal is moved into the mold through a riser pipe using an applied gas pressure. The filling is performed with a laminar form obtaining a high density and excellent mechanical properties. The low pressure casting procedure is very suitable for the production of high quality aluminum wheels sold to the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) market and for the automotive aftermarket.

It is the best choice to resolve shrink, the thickness can meet 2mm to 3.5mm. Densification of casting is improved; Pouring system is easy; metal utilization rate up to 80%; working conditions are improved; mechanization and automated, high production efficiency.

Advantages:
The advantages of low-pressure casting are a good filling-ability for thin-walled and large area parts and a close structure for pressurized parts. By maintaining several casting parameters a very high constant quality in the serial production and process safety will be realized. The overpressure during the casting procedure and the following adjustable holding time acts in opposition to the mould shrinkage by cooling down.

Sand Casting - Shanghai Sourcing


Sand casting, also known as sand molded casting, is a metal casting process characterized by using sand as the mold material. It is relatively cheap and sufficiently refractory even for steel foundry use. The term "sand casting" can also refer to a casting produced via the sand casting process. Sand castings are produced in specialized factories called foundries. In sand molded casting, the molten metal is poured into the cavity, which has a pattern made of wood or metal. The patterns is a exact replica of the shape that the metal is to casted in. Molten metal in introduced into the cavity in the shape of the casting to be made. When the cast solidifies the mold is broken to remove the castings. of the finished workpieces, etc. Machines are also used for handling the castings, re preparation of the sand and for mixing the components for making molds.

Applications of Sand casting (Sand Molded Casting):
Sand casting is used to produce a wide variety of metal components with complex geometries. These parts can vary greatly in size and weight, ranging from a couple ounces to several tons. Some smaller sand cast parts include components as gears, pulleys, crankshafts, connecting rods, and propellers. Larger applications include housings for large equipment and heavy machine bases. Sand molded casting is also common in producing automobile components, such as engine blocks, engine manifolds, cylinder heads, machine bases, gears, pulleys, and transmission cases.

Process of Sand casting (Sand Molded Casting):
A single piece or solid pattern is used for simple designs. Patterns that are more complex are made in two parts, and are called split patterns. This can also be designed in the CAD level, and printed by Objet systems. The upper part of a split pattern is called a cope, while the bottom section is called a drag. Where the cope and drag separate is known as the parting line. Both solid and split patterns can have cores inserted to complete the final part shape. When making a pattern, it is necessary to taper the edges so the pattern can be removed without breaking the mold.

Vacuum Casting in China



Vacuum Casting uses a plastic film to cover sand surface and use vacuum to shape sand. It produces casting parts with better surface and dimensional accuracy. It is a greener method than traditional casting.
